Wooster Collective talk FRIDAY at Pratt Manhattan Gallery 7-9PM

Join us today for a talk by the Wooster Collective (Sara and Marc Schiller) TONIGHT, 7PM (Friday, October 8) at Pratt Manhattan Gallery (144 W 14th St, btwn 6th and 7th Ave).

Copies of their new book Trespass will be available.

Street art at its heart is ephemeral, site specific, and illegal.  With such powerful attributes, artists who have been putting work up on the street are now the focus of the art world.  With pieces often only lasting minutes, viewing them digitally has been one main way to understand the movement. Using hundreds of examples of site specific, global work, the Wooster Collective will take you through what makes Street Art so compelling, why the artists are motivated to make illegal art and how the movement has transformed over the past decade. This presentation will spark our creative juices and enable us to see the city from an unusual perspective.

Founded in 2001 by Marc and Sara Schiller, Wooster Collective showcases and celebrates the global ephemeral art movement. The Collective’s mission is to discover and document authentic art experiences via salons, lectures, publishing, gallery shows, and online at www.woostercollective.com.  In 2006, the Schiller’s organized one of the most significant exhibitions of street art to date at an abandoned building in downtown New York. Their book, Trespass will launch in the fall.
